Homeward bound
Today marks the un-official end of my adventure. It’s been a wonderful time here, but I’m certainly missing the chaps back home. Jamie, who’d been experimenting with walking before I left, is now apparently quite comfortable on his feet, so I’m looking forward to playing some soccer or something with him on Monday. I think Jan’s also done extremely well coping alone, but I can’t imagine it’s been easy, so it’s about time I return!
In a nutshell, since leaving Scotland, I stayed 2 nights with Anton and Tandy, spending one day wandering around London and another travelling to Cambridge and the War Museum at Duxford. It was really fun seeing them again, and we had some good time together (including a trip to Gourmet Burger Kitchen…) – many thanks for their hospitality! Trent fetched me at the Museum on Thursday, and since then I’ve been with them in Reading. It’s also been great here, and highlights have to include the UCT-style-burgers which we rustled up yesterday and an evening visit to a restaurant serving the national dish in UK – Indian Curry! They have also been terrific hosts – Ta!
We will probably venture to Legoland today, and tonight I catch a 9 o’clock train back to Birmingham, sleep on the cold-hard-benches, and board my flight at 5 tomorrow morning. It connects via Amsterdam again, so I will be travelling for a solid day until I land tomorrow night in CT. I am really not excited about my sleep tonight!
See you all soon!!
(Pictures exist but will arrive later…)

We did that Amsterdam – CPT daytime flight.
We too had to connect to it but via Manchester, not B’ham.
We left Sheffield at 2:30am and got back home to Cape Town at 11.15pm.
With an 8-month old baby.
I wouldn’t advise it. Really.
